At the invitation of the School of Management and Economics, Dr. Shen Yanming from Germany's Syneos Health Inc. came to our school for an exchange. On the morning of March 9, 2018, in the conference room 216 of the main building, delivered a speech entitled “The application of confounders, causal graphs, and propensity scores in health and business research”. The report was hosted by Dr. Yang Tianan. Teachers and students from the college attended the report meeting.
Dr. Shen Yuming first introduced his research field and related achievements, and emphasized the importance of scientific research design in scientific research. Then he started with what is the confounder and mediator, pointed out that the data analysis needs to be controlled, and how to effectively control and determine the confounder. Next, the propensity score is used as an example to introduce how to control the confounder in health and data science research. The participants and Dr. Shen Shenming had full discussions and exchanges on related issues.
