March 27, 2012, CEEP-BIT and ERIA Joint Workshop on Energy and Environmental Modeling for Policy Development was held in Beijing successfully. More than 170 experts and scholars from over 60 universities or research institutions in 17 countries participated in the workshop. School leader Yang ShuKang attended the opening ceremony and gave a welcome speech. Mitsuo Matsumoto, member of the Board of Directors of ERIA and Head of Research, made an opening statement. The opening ceremony was chaired by Dean Professor Wei Yiming.
During the meeting, the delegates had in-depth exchanges and discussions on energy and environmental policy modeling, as well as the future international energy modeling regional cooperation.

Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) is an international organization approved by the East Asia Summit. Since the inception in 2008, ERIA have carried out a lot of research, and through providing policy advice to the leaders and ministers, supported the ASEAN and East Asian economic integration and sustainable development. The ERIA carried its research around the three pillars: the promotion of regional economic integration, narrowing the gap of the regional development and sustainable development. The energy research is a major component of the pillar of sustainable development. The ERIA policy recommendations including the energy policy proposals have been spoken highly of by the Minister and leaders of the ASEAN and East Asia.
