On November 20, 2018, the School of Management and Economics of Beijing Institute of Technology held an unveiling ceremony in the 133 lecture hall, officially establishing the “Econometric Methods and Data Analysis Research Center”. Professor Wang Zhaohua, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Management and Economics, presided over the unveiling ceremony. Prof. Li Wei, Professor of Economics at Vanderbilt University, Visiting Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology, and Honorary Director of the Center, Professor Wei Yiming, Dean of the School of Management and Economics, unveiled the center. Prof. Yang Ruilong, a professor at Renmin University of China and a special professor of “Changjiang Scholars”, Professor Lu Yi, Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars at Tsinghua University, and Professor Tang Yujun, Associate Dean, witnessed the establishment of the center.
Professor Wei Yiming said at the opening ceremony that the establishment of the Center for Econometric Methods and Data Analysis is of great significance to the development of the applied economics of the School of Management and Economics and the promotion of talents in the college. Under the leadership of Professor Li Wei and the joint efforts of the teachers and students, the Center is expected to give full play to the role of econometrics in economic management disciplines, and comprehensively improve the research ability of the faculty and the level of postgraduate training.
