June 3, 2013, invited by Dean of the School of Management and Economics and Director of Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center Professor Wei Yiming, Associate Professor Pan Yue, University of Dayton, the United States, visited our school and made a report entitled "The Helpfulness of User-Generated Product Reviews: A Retailer's Perspective ". The report was hosted by Zhang YueJun.
Professor Pan analyzed product reviews for different types of products, product sales impact at different times. He discussed determinants of reviews effectiveness from three aspects: the comment itself, product characteristics, reviewers’ qualities evaluators. Finally, in example of critics and movie box office, he discussed the role of product reviews, and made recommendations on product reviews systematic management.
