May 30, 2011, the SME Strategic Advisory Committee Inaugural Seminar was successfully held in the main building. Professor Guo Chongqing, China Academy of Engineering, Director of the Management Department of the National Natural Science Foundation, Professor Liu Yuanzhang, China Academy of Engineering, Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, Professor Guo Chuanjie, former President of University of Science and Technology of China, member of the National Education Advisory Committee, Professor Li Zhimin, Director of the Center for Science and Technology Development of Education Ministry, Professor Chen Xiaotian, former Deputy Director of the Management Department of the National Natural Science Foundation, Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Vice President of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Professor Yu Jingyuan, former Deputy Director of Aerospace Science and Technology 710 Institute, Professor Zhuangzi Jian, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, attended the meeting. Professor Guo Dacheng, Party Secretary of Beijing Institute of Technology, Professor Hou Guangming, Deputy Party Secretary, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. SME core faculty joined the strategic workshop. Dean Professor Wei Yiming, chaired the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Advisory Committee.
The establishment of the SAC and convening of the seminar is to bring together the wisdom and strength of experts, brainstorm to identify problems in the development, further specify SME development ideas, constantly expand the dimension of discipline construction and personnel training, shape a positive research, teaching and learning environment, and strive to build SME into a leading research-oriented management school.
