Venue: 216, Main Building

Speaker: Cao Zhidong, Research Fellow, Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Introduction of the speaker.

Cao Zhidong, graduated from the Institute of Geographic Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2008, then joined the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he worked as a postdoctoral fellow, assistant researcher, associate researcher, researcher, Ph. -He is also a member of the expert group of the information technology team of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the New Pneumonia Epidemic, and is a member of the special committee, branch director and executive director of several national societies. His main research interests are social computing, spatio-temporal big data analysis, and public health emergency management. He is committed to developing and using big data and artificial intelligence to explore new methods and technologies for the precise prevention and control of major infectious disease epidemics in China, and to improve the country's emergency management and prevention and control decision-making capabilities in response to major infectious disease epidemic crises. He has led more than 10 national-level projects in this area, including six National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, and chaired the major project of Science and Technology Innovation 2030 - "New Generation of Artificial Intelligence" (2021ZD0111200). 2021ZD0111200), as the chief scientist. He has published in international journals such as Nature Human Behaviour, National Science Review, NPJ Digital Medicine, Chaos, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Science Bulletin, Science China, China Foundation for Science and international journals. He has published hundreds of papers in mainstream domestic journals and international conferences, edited/translated three books, and received nine scientific awards, including the First Prize and Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress of the Army (3), the First Prize of Natural Science of the Chinese Society of Simulation, and the Special Prize of Science and Technology of Surveying and Mapping.

Brief report content.

In the late 1980s, Qian Xuesen proposed "Open Complex Giant Systems and their Methodology" to study highly complex social, economic, environmental and health problems from the perspective of holistic approach, which is particularly significant in the new form of society where people, machines, things and networks are deeply integrated. The spatio-temporal transmission process of major infectious disease epidemics is influenced by a combination of biological, environmental and social factors, and is a typical complex system with great inherent uncertainty and emergent nature of epidemic evolution. The report introduces the research methodology of spatio-temporal transmission system of epidemic from the perspective of complex system and the scientific practice of the group in the research of Neoplasmosis epidemic.
