Assistant Professor Zhang Peng from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University Visits

  Professor Zhang Peng's paper uses county-level inversion intensity data as an exogenous source of medium-term air pollution to assess the impact of air pollution on immigrants.The article found that between 1996 and 2010, independent changes in air pollution in China could reduce migration inflows by 50%, and reduce the population of a county by about 5% through net removal.The paper also found that immigration caused by air pollution mainly occurred in the higher education level, young people and women.
