This presentation will focus on a stream of research related to the factors that impact the effectiveness of High Performance Work Practices (HPWPs) on organizational performance. This line of research includes several studies that build upon the recently published taxonomy of HPWPs, and will illustrate how basing research on a well-designed taxonomic structure can facilitate the orderly accumulation of knowledge. There will be examples of how organizations could successfully use HPWPs as part of an aligned hierarchical structure to enhance innovation. In addition, ongoing research on the impact of culture on the relationships between HPWPs and organizational performance will be discussed.
